When does a pool need a full renovation instead of a resurface?
If only the interior finish is worn, resurfacing may be enough. A renovation makes sense when several parts of the pool are aging together: the finish, the tile, the coping, the deck, the equipment. Fixing them separately means opening the same pool over and over.
A quick test: if you would be happy with the pool once the surface is fresh, resurface. If you keep noticing the edge, the deck and the equipment, plan a renovation.
It also fits when you want the pool to look different. Many South Florida pools were built in the 1970s through the 1990s, and the shape and materials of that era can feel dated. A remodel lets you change the look without starting from scratch.
What can be included in a remodel?
We have done renovations that range from a new interior with fresh tile to projects that rebuild the whole pool environment. The scope is built around what you want and what the pool needs.
- New interior finish in plaster, quartz or pebble
- New waterline tile and coping
- Marble, travertine or paver decks, with drainage
- Waterfalls and in-pool seating benches
- Infinity or zero-edge details
- Salt chlorine, LED lights, new skimmers and equipment
- Relocating the equipment pad
- Demolition of old finishes and old decking
How is a renovation estimate organized?
Our estimates are itemized by group: Pool Renovation, Deck and Drainage, and Equipment and Systems. Each group has its own lines, and the estimate ends with a clear total. You can see where the money goes and decide what to keep.
Planning, engineering and permitting are quoted separately when a project needs them. Hidden underground conditions, such as old pipes or buried debris, can add cost, so we say that up front rather than surprise you later.
What changes for remodels in South Florida?
Salt air, strong sun and summer storms wear on materials faster here. We choose finishes, stone and equipment with that in mind. Draining needs care in coastal areas with high water tables, and projects near the canals or the Intracoastal often have extra drainage concerns.
Permits come from each city building department, and Palm Beach County unincorporated areas go through the county. Rules differ from town to town, so we work out the process before the schedule is set.
Do you work on HOA and community association pools?
Yes. We have done leak repair work for a master association and have proposed ongoing maintenance for an HOA with a main pool, a kids' pool and entrance waterfalls. Community pools carry different requirements from a backyard pool.
On homeowner projects in an HOA, approvals and fees are the homeowner's responsibility. We can provide drawings and specifications for your submission, which usually speeds things up.
